The problem I have is with bu, that is when to use second and fourth tone. I find that challenging.

Hi adlina18,
That's a good question. When 不(bù) is used before fourth tone, it changes into second tone "bú." And it is "bù" before the first, second and third tones.
For example,
不(bù)知道(zhīdào) do not know
不(bù) 来(lái) do not come
不(bù) 好(hǎo) not good
不(bú) 去(qù) do not go
Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
