On the topic of liu2xing2 yin1yue4/ have your heard of...let's see her name is Annie Yi 伊能靜 ? She is a 台湾歌手,演员和作家。 Táiwān gēshǒu, yǎnyuán hé zuòjiā...sound familar? Like you she is an actress too. :) Recently Annie Yi has been in the media "alot" in Asia, on the internet in China and aboard. By the evening of Jan. 10, “Annie Yi” reached the top of Sina’s “hot search” list with nearly 90,000 searches
Your recent vocabulary here allowed me to "kinda of express" my thoughts about her post. Was great I can start in a small way to talk about issues and topics currently "hot" in people's minds. Helen most of the discussion centered around her name which is kinda of a play on words on Annie Yi's name, See it?

Wow, you know 伊能静!She is famous in China, and she is one of the judges in China's Got Talent. As you know she is a singer, an actress and a writer. Many talents, right? We like to use "知性zhīxìng" to describe the women like her. Have you ever heard of this word?

今天过的怎么样 Jīntiān guò de zěnmeyàng?
你这个周末有什么计划吗?Nǐ zhège zhōumò yǒu shé me jìhuà ma?
John everyone say's Xi'an is the Rock n Rool Capitol of China ;)
Thought, maybe you would be making plans for the weekend to find the best music around...
Anyway, today's topic is very interesting.
Everyone has something to say about music...we all like to make time for entertainment in our lives, right? Good topic..your presentation here is cool, seems like you had fun making this video.
I learned some great vocab form this short video, liu2xing2 yin1yue4/ popular music I was not really aware how to say 'popular music" in a sentence, John glad you cleared that up in this lesson. I defintly didn't know how to say, " Pai1hang2bang3 which is very useful in a discussion of music with friends. Rap music I have listened to ,that category is well...if I tried to explain it in chinese I would really be lost.I would have had no way to express that topic if not for this cool video John, with the phrase" shuo1chang4 " now I can sound like I know what I am talking about. Finally the term...zhong1guo2feng1. That term I never heard before. The two artist you mentioned 周杰倫Chou and 王力宏Wang I love their music, even David Tao(陶喆) could he be part of the Chou Style music too, you think so? . I Was not aware what you called that music experience ...really neat ! You gave an interesting description of what these two artist do.
Now when my friends say... Taibangle1 Zui4jin4 you3 shen2me hao3 ting1 de ge1 ma? I can sound like I really know, a little about "Chinese music" !
But my real interest is in...中国古典音乐 Zhōngguó gǔdiǎn yīnyuè /classical chinese music ! It's not so popular with western audience yet...but it is growing . I am not sure how you feel about this music?
I look forward to meeting the artist whom sing 中国古典音乐 Zhōngguó gǔdiǎn yīnyuè soon, watch them practice I hope and If I am lucky, see them "live" on stage ! John I do like all kinds of music as well...
Great job !

Thanks for your support, taibangle! You're right, Xi'an is a city with rock spirit and we have many rock stars here. And the three singers you mentioned “周杰伦,王力宏,陶喆” are all good singer-songwriters. They wrote and sang R&B at the very beginning, and at that time R&B was very famous in China. But now they tend to create Chinese style songs, you know it really sounds good. I'm very glad to hear that you like 中国古典音乐。Actually when we say 中国古典音乐,it usually means the instrumental music. And the songs of 宋祖英(She has hold a concert in America. :)) we call that ones 民歌. Do you know 宋祖英? She is very famous in China.

宋祖英 ...I see why she would be very famous in China. But I have not seen her ...yet :)
Song was born in Guzhang county, part of a Miao autonomous prefecture in Hunan and studied in the department of music and dancing at the Central Institute for Nationalities in Beijing, after which she studied at the China Music College. Our Show has featured the dance of the Miao people and their music is wonderful. I love them so much and so does the audience at the theaters. Her father died when she was 12, and she is the oldest daughter. In 1991, she joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Song and Dance Troupe as a national first-class singer. I knew many dancers that followed her direction. Some dancers I knew did chose to go abroad and find a place to dance, sing and teach. As of 2009, she is a non-combatant Rear Admiral in the Chinese Navy. Her story is very well known among the Chinese entertainment community not so many western people know her ....Her husband is famous as well, if I remember correctly ? :)
3Q for the insights, corrections and introducing me to new Chinese singers and styles. Will balance, comliment and harmonize my understanding of Chinese culture.
